FAQ

  • Liability
Shibari is inherently dangerous. Any practice of it that you do on your time is your responsibility regardless of whether tying or being tied. You can read my liability waiver at the bottom of the website.
  • Should I read the liability waiver?
All participants are expected to read the liability waiver in detail, and one will always be provided each session and critical points will be gone over. Each session type has a different waiver.
  • Safety
I will always be messaging a close friend to check in on me by a certain time when servicing. I recommend that you do the same.
  • Location
Indoor/backyard: I request that your location is fairly clean and offers enough space. If you can spread out while lying down and not fear hitting your head that is likely enough space. No children can be present and I ask that pets are put where they will not distract. This is preferred for private lessons. Outdoor: I request any outdoor public setting is done in a quiet spot on a weekday that is highly unlikely to be seen. I strongly advise against this for private lessons.
  • What if I have to cancel/reschedule?
The deposit will be retained, you don’t have to pay for another deposit as long as it is before 24hrs from scheduled session.
  • What should I wear?
Tight fitting clothes are the most comfortable and best to tie as looser clothing tends to get pinched in rope which can become uncomfortable. I respectfully request those with male genitalia to please wear loose shorts, I understand that blood flow is something not entirely within our control.
  • How far can you travel?
My service is based from the South Bay, travel past give or take 120 miles round trip (Think from San Jose to Marin) will require additional cost.
  • What if I have an open wound?
Its for the best you wait for it to heal. If you endure a injury I will retain the deposit and you are welcome to reschedule at anytime.
  • Can I be under the influence of a substance?
Not under alcohol, recreational substance, or mind altering medicine.
  • Can I tie you?
    No.
  • What should I know about ropes?
I am biased toward natural-fibre based ropes, but some people can have skin reactions to them. I am sensitive to hays and grass but hemp does not bother my skin. I think the factor important to this is how it is treated. Posh Rope is a good synthetic alternative.
  • Suspensions?
Not unless/until I can assess that your skill as one binding / bound is well enough.
  • I get easily claustrophobic. Will I not like being tied?
Not necessarily, but it is important to remember that Shibari can certainly create very strong emotions. As a beginner it is up to you to communicate what you do not feel comfortable trying and I can absolutely adjust for it.
  • I want my partner to try Shibari but they are hesitant.
Do not pressure anyone to try Shibari, if I get the sense that participating parties are not consenting the session will be ended.
  • Do you have high quality video/picture equipment?
    Not beyond a recent iPhone.
  • Can you do suspensions?
For the moment I only support single point suspensions and will not do one if the one being tied is not experienced nor if the support is too weak. I am not responsible for any damage incurred by testing of support points as such a failure could have resulted in hospitalization or death.
  • Do you provide models?
    No.
